IMDG Familiarization Course

Course Duration : 02 Days

To enhance awareness and generate a high degree of safety consciousness amongst the participants, regarding the dangers associated with the exposure to, handling, carriage, storage and transport of hazardous materials.

To train participants in the safe and correct methods of dealing with hazardous material, including dealing with emergencies related to hazardous material.

• General familiarization
• Training requirements for various personnel and departments
• Legal requirements and recommendations (MSC Circular 1216)
• Identifying hazardous material (IMDG Code) / Hazardous material Classification
• In-depth knowledge of the IMDG Code + Supplement
• Marking, Labeling, Placarding
• Quantity limitations (Limited and Excepted)
• Safe handling procedures and practices
• Acceptance, handling, storage and segregation requirements in CFS, ICD and Port area
• Emergency Procedures and Medical First Aid
• Emergency response and contingency planning
• Environmental hazards
• Planning of layout of dangerous cargo areas in CFS, ICD and Port area
• Security arrangements
