Passenger Ship Familiarization Course (PSFC)

BASIC DETAILS OF THE COURSE

Aims :

This course aims at providing Passenger Ship Familiarisation in accordance with the relevant provisions of Section A-V/3 of the STCW Code.

This course has formerly been called the “Passenger Ship (Crowd Management) Course”. In accordance with the IMO Model course 1.28, this course will now be called the ‘Crowd Management, Passenger Safety and Safety Training for Personnel providing direct services to Passengers in Passenger Spaces’ Course, abbreviated in these guidelines to “Crowd Management Course”.

Objectives :

The objectives of this course are to provide the student with the knowledge and skill in controlling a crowd in an emergency situation, locate essential safety and emergency equipment on board, communicate effectively with passengers during an emergency, demonstrate the use of personal life-saving appliances and comply with the ship’s safety and emergency procedures.
